Crafting timeless architecture with natural materials, historic techniques and modern sensibility.
Studio Armitage is a London-based architecture and design practice creating quietly crafted buildings, places and interiors through an investigative, hands-on approach. We work across bespoke homes, cultural spaces and adaptive reuse, with a focus on material craft, context and buildability to make spaces that feel rooted and enduring.
Founded by architect Freddie Armitage, the studio draws on experience at Níall McLaughlin Architects, David Chipperfield Architects and Bell Phillips Architects, including work on one-off private houses, social housing, a museum in Leiden, the winning Edinburgh Concert Hall competition, and the retrofit of the Grade II-listed Saarinen-designed US Embassy in Mayfair, as well as leading a six-house Passivhaus scheme for Ealing Council.
Recognition includes first prize at the RIBA Northern Awards 2019 and a nomination for the RIBA President’s Medals 2019. Freddie is also shortlisted for the 2025 RIBAJ Rising Star Award.
